What is TPS?
TPS stands for “Treatment Planning Services”, although it is often also described as “Treatment Plan Optimization”. TPS providers will evaluate each malocclusion case and use our treatment planning software ClearPilot to optimize your setup considering the patient’s dental conditions, your treatment preferences, and your treatment goals. TPS helps you plan for the most effective and efficient treatment possible while minimizing the risk of midcourse corrections or revisions.
It is important to remember that even expertly planned TPS treatments can be impacted by conditions outside of your control (such as patient compliance, etc), so you should always monitor the patient's progress throughout the treatment to ensure they are tracking properly. If modifications to the treatment plan need to be made mid treatment, you should initiate a revision as needed (you may also order TPS services to help with revisions). While TPS helps you optimize your initial treatment plan, it DOES NOT replace the follow-up care necessary for clinical success. As the treating clinician, you are still responsible for the ultimate success of the treatment.
ClearCorrect supports any 3rd party TPS providers in your market via the Collaborator Suite, but we are also partnered with major TPS provider ClearForward for a more integrated TPS solution.
When and why TPS?
Providers should consider TPS orders in any of the following scenarios:
- If you are new to ClearCorrect (or clear aligner therapy in general) and wish to jumpstart your practice while completing the onboarding process.
- To increase your clinical confidence. If you are less experienced with complex treatments, you can use TPS for the support you need to help you to gain experience.
- If you are struggling with modifications to the plan mid treatment on a complex case, consider adding TPS for your next revision to help you finish successfully.
- If you simply have too many cases coming in and don’t want to spend all your time treatment planning, TPS can be your efficiency solution.

What is included in ClearForward’s service?
Every ClearForward TPS order is for a single treatment plan optimization and includes the following:
- Comprehensive diagnosis of the malocclusion based on a review of all submitted records.
- Custom orthodontic treatment plan and smile design to resolve the patient's chief complaint and achieve the doctor's primary treatment goals.
- Virtual setup that incorporates the treatment plan and is then optimized to achieve a predictable and stable result while eliminating unnecessary movements and attachments.
ClearForward will take your treatment preferences into account but will ultimately optimize the plan using the ClearForward expert protocols and preferences.
Each ClearForward TPS order includes as many setup adjustments as necessary up until final approval of the treatment setup (providers may order ClearForward TPS on case revisions separately for a reduced price).
