How to Submit Cases with a 3Shape TRIOS Scanner

This article provides step-by-step instructions to connect your 3Shape TRIOS scanner with the ClearCorrect digital workflow. ClearCorrect supports three primary workflows: 

This guide will help you set up your connections and navigate each workflow for efficient case creation and submission. Let's get started.


Get Connected

To use your TRIOS scanner with the three primary ClearCorrect workflows, you must install two apps in UNITE and properly pair your accounts. To get connected, please refer to the following sections.

Download Apps in UNITE Store

To download the required apps for all workflows, complete the following steps:

1. Open 3Shape UNITE platform.

2. Click your user icon, then go to More > Store.

3. In the 3Shape UNITE store, select the Straumann Group from the left app menu.

4. Install both the ClearCorrect app (for new case submissions and new retainer cases) and ClearCorrect Classic (for revisions, end of case retainers, or incomplete submissions).

Pairing Scanner in the Doctor Portal and Adding a Lab Connection

To use the ClearCorrect Classic workflow, you must pair your TRIOS account in the Doctor Portal and add the lab connection in the 3Shape portal. Follow the steps below to complete these actions:

Pairing Scanner in the Doctor Portal 1. Sign in to the Doctor Portal.
2. Go to My Account.
3. Select the Pairing section from the menu on the left.
4. Select the Pair button.

5. Enter your 3Shape Communicate username and password on the 3Shape page.

 

Adding ClearCorrect Classic Lab Connection

1. Go to 3Shape Communicate and log in at:

2. Select Connections from the top menu, then Add Connection.

4. In the search field, enter the ClearCorrect Classic selection for their country. Select organization and then the Connect button to send the connect request. Then close the confirmation window.

6. Refresh the browser until the status changes to Enabled.

7. Restart the TRIOS application.

Note: Only first-time users will need to complete these steps to establish a connection between your 3Shape and ClearCorrect accounts.

ClearCorrect Workflows

ClearCorrect Supports three primary workflows from 3Shape TRIOS:


ClearCorrect Aligner

Initiates a new aligner case draft in the Doctor Portal. The prescription can either be completed and submitted or saved as a draft to complete later. Follow the steps below to complete a new ClearCorrect case with the 3Shape TRIOS integration for a New Patient or Existing Patient:

1. Create a new patient or search for an existing patient in the TRIOS system.

2. Click New case from the left menu.

3. Select the ClearCorrect Aligner icon under the Scan & Send heading.

4. Perform the patient scans, capturing a minimum of 3 millimeters of gingiva and the interproximal area for the lower arch, upper arch, and occlusion.

5. Review the scans, close all holes, and trim any unnecessary data.

6. After scanning, select the Post Process icon, review the scan data, and click Next.

7. A new case submission draft will open automatically inside the UNITE platform. For first-time users, use your eShop account to access the Doctor Portal to pair your account.

8. The new case draft is automatically saved with the patient's scan files in the ClearCorrect Doctor Portal. You may exit the draft to finish later in the Doctor Portal or complete and submit the order from within UNITE.

ClearCorrect Retainer

Initiates a standalone retainer order. Submission must be submitted in the Doctor Portal.

ClearCorrect Retainer Workflow

1. Create a new patient or search for an existing one in the TRIOS system.

3. Select the ClearCorrect Retainer icon under the Scan & Send heading.

4. Perform the patient scans, capturing a minimum of 3 millimeters of gingiva and the interproximal area for the lower arch, upper arch, and occlusion.

5. Review the scans, close all holes, and trim any unnecessary data.

6. After scanning, select the Post Process icon, review the scan data, and click Next.

8. The retainer case draft is automatically saved with the patient's scan files in the Doctor Portal. You may exit the draft to finish later in the Doctor Portal or complete and submit the order from within UNITE.

ClearCorrect Classic (For Revisions, End of Case Retainers or Incomplete Submissions)

Scan and send files from TRIOS to the Doctor Portal, which can be accessed in the Records Uploader when editing an order. To complete the order, you must finish the scan in TRIOS and send it to the Doctor Portal through the lab connection for the following cases:

  • Revision
  • End of Case Retainer
  • Incomplete Submissions

There are two actions needed: scanning and sending the files, and completing the case submission.

Scan and Send files from TRIOS
 

1. Create a new patient or search for an existing patient in the TRIOS system.

2. Click New case from the left menu.

3. Select the ClearCorrect Classic icon under the Scan & Send heading.

4. Choose the delivery date as today's date and check the Scan only box.

4. Perform the patient scans, capturing a minimum of 3 millimeters of gingiva and the interproximal area for the lower arch, upper arch, and occlusion.

5. Review the scans, close all holes, and trim any unnecessary data.

6. Select the Next or the Send icon located at the top of the window.

7. To complete sending the file click on the blue Send button on the bottom of the page.

To complete the submission after scanning and sending through the lab connection complete the following steps in the ClearCorrect Doctor Portal: 

Complete Case in the Doctor Portal 1. Log in to the Doctor Portal to access your account.

2.  From the Case Details Page, open your desired order form:

  • Revision Form

  • Retainer Form

  • Incomplete Submission Form

3.  Navigate to the Records Uploader section, go to the 3D Model tab.

4.  From the Select Scan dropdown menu, choose TRIOS.

5. Select patient and files from the paired TRIOS account.

6. Complete and submit the order in the Doctor Portal.
