How to Submit a Case with the Straumann SIRIOS™ Scanner

The Straumann SIRIOS™ scanner has been optimized for Straumann solutions, including ClearCorrect with the ability to start new aligner, new retainer, and revision cases, all directly from the scanner.

This article covers the workflows for submitting new aligner or retainer cases, revisions, as well as the traditional workflow of exporting STL files to upload to the Doctor Portal, using the Straumann SIRIOS™ scanner with ClearCorrect.

This video also walks you through each of the ClearCorrect workflows.


 

Getting Connected

To pair your ClearCorrect account with Straumann SIRIOS™ follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Straumann SIRIOS™ User account.
  2. Go to Settings and select Export.
  3. Select Log in within the ClearCorrect box.

Submitting a New Aligner or Retainer Case

Let's look at the workflow for submitting a new aligner or retainer case.

Step Details
1. Start a New Case

Open the Straumann SIRIOS™ scanner application to start a new case. Navigate to the side menu, click on the workspace icon, and select New ClearCorrect Case.

2. Add Patient

Click on the Add patient button.

3. Patient Information

Enter the patient's information, select the treatment type, ClearCorrect Aligner or Retainer Case, and then click the Next button.

4. Scan Lower Arch

Begin the scanning series for the patient’s arches, starting with the lower arch. Utilize the Cleaning Tools if needed to tidy up remaining artifacts (such as excess soft tissue) on scans, then click Next.

5. Scan Upper Arch

Scan the patient's upper arch. Utilize the Cleaning Tools if needed to tidy up remaining artifacts, then click Next to continue the scan series to capture the patient's bite.

6. Scan Bite

For the bite scan, scan 2 Bite Keys on both the right and left sides.

7. Send

Confirm all the General Information, Lab Options, and add Additional Information if desired. Then, select Send to load it into the Outbox.

8. Doctor Portal

Locate the case in the Outbox to send it to the Doctor Portal. Click on the case web icon to be directed to the Doctor Portal.

Complete the Create an Order workflow in the Doctor Portal, ensuring all information is accurate, scan files are attached, and any additional necessary information or instructions are provided before clicking the Submit button.

Submitting a Case Revision

This video walks you through the revision workflow.

Let's look at the workflow for submitting a case revision.

Step Details
1. Locate the Case Locate the case in the SIRIOS scanner software, by using the search field for the patient's name and/or the drop-down filters, selecting:
  • Search: Patient Name
  • Status: Exported
  • Treatment type: ClearCorrect

2. Revise

Select the three dots on the case card to access the menu, then choose Revise from the pop-up menu.

3. Instructions

Complete the revision instructions by providing detailed guidance, including revision goals, identification of non-tracking issues, problematic angles/views, desired changes, preferences for overcorrection, or any other specific requests. Then, select the Next button located in the lower right corner.

4. Scan Initiate the scanning process for the patient's arches, align, review, then export.
6. Doctor Portal

Locate the case in the Outbox to send to the Doctor Portal. Click on the case web icon to be directed to the Doctor Portal.

Complete the Request a Revision form in the Doctor Portal, ensuring all information is accurate, scan files are attached, and any addition necessary information or instructions are provided before clicking the Submit button.

Classic Workflow: Exporting STL from Straumann SIRIOS™ to upload in the Doctor Portal

This video walks you through the classic/manual workflow.

To complete the classic workflow, export STL files from Straumann SIRIOS™ and upload into the Doctor Portal, follow these steps:

Step Details
1. File Export

Files can be exported directly from Straumann SIRIOS™, either from the Patient Case page or the Case Management page.

  • From the Patient Case page, choose Export Type as Local, and then click the Export button at the bottom right of the page.

  • From the Case Management page, click the three dots for the case menu drop-down, then choose Export STLs.

2. Doctor Portal Log into the Doctor Portal and proceed through the steps to create an order or revision. Scans can be uploaded in the Records Uploader section.
3. 3D Models

Select the tab for 3D-Models.

4. Scanner Selection

Click on the Scan Selection dropdown menu and select Straumann SIRIOS.

5. Upload Files Select Add Files to upload images from your computer for both the upper and lower arch.
