Some of the most common uses for the treatment setup are:
- To show the patient the treatment goals and what treatment outcomes are possible (at the beginning or during treatment, when non-compliance is suspected)
- To monitor treatment progress
- To verify locations for:
- Placing engagers
- Performing IPR
- Compliance checkpoints
- At the end of treatment, compared with clinical photos, to determine if treatment is finished to your's and the patient's satisfaction
Located on the right hand side of the setup you’ll find basic information about the case:
- The patients name
- The treating physician
- The case number
- The date the setup was created
- The version number of the setup

When in the "Start" position, you'll see a summary of information for the case, including:
- The amount of IPR for the entire case
- The number of engagers for the entire case
- The wear schedule
- The total number of steps
- The estimated duration of the case
- Simple instructions for navigating the treatment setup

As you progress through the steps of the setup, the information located on the right will change to include any actions that need to be taken on that particular step. If no action is necessary, it will provide wear time instruction.
The navigating instructions will remain regardless of the step you are viewing.

Sharing the treatment setup
A link to a shareable version, which hides the patient's first name is also available for setups on the case page under the "ACTION NEEDED" tab. Click "Show patient link" and copy the URL that is displayed. This can be pasted into an email or text message for sharing with patients or colleagues.

Viewing the treatment setup
Treatment setups appear on the Manage Orders page in the Doctor’s Portal when they are ready for your review. To view just the cases awaiting setup approval, select “Setup Awaiting Approval” in the Category drop down menu.
Click a case on the list to visit the case page.

The treatment setup will be under the “Action needed” tab at the top left on the case page. Click the image of the setup and it will open in a web browser window.

Shortcuts are available for the most common views: Upper occlusal, Lower occlusal, Right, Front, and Left. You can also rotate the model to view the teeth from any angle by clicking and dragging.

To navigate between steps:
- You can drag the slider
- Click on a step
- Click the Previous and Next arrows
- Click Play to animate the treatment from beginning to end
- Click Previous at the beginning or Next at the end of treatment to quickly toggle between views before and after treatment

If your case includes IPR or engagers, you can show or hide them by clicking the buttons labeled "IPR" and/or "ENGAGERS" located at the top left hand side of the setup. Engagers are shown in teal when they are first placed, and in light teal on subsequent steps. IPR is represented by pink cones, while Compliance Checkpoints are shown in grey.

Evaluating the treatment setup
- Check for notes from the Technician
- Evaluate the bite setting. Is the bite set correctly?
- Check your treatment plan and compare with the setup
We suggest 3 basic steps for evaluating a treatment setup. These are just our recommendations and you may have a different approach that you like to take. Remember, it's up to you to take the necessary actions to customize an ideal treatment plan for each individual patient.
1. Check for notes from the Technician
If the Technician asks you to take some action please do so. If there are no instructions from the Technician, click on the image of the setup to view.

2. Evaluate the bite setting. Is the bite set correctly?
Confirm that the software has accurately related the models and bite registration. Put the timeline of the treatment setup in the starting position and tilt the model up to check for gaps between the upper and lower incisors—comparing this view to the patient’s photographs and records often indicates an improper bite registration for the model.

Look and compare the front, right and left sides to make sure that the following are set correctly in the setup:
- Overjet
- Overbite
- Intercuspation
- Midline
If there is a discrepancy, do not continue before you get a setup with the right bite setting.
3. Check your treatment plan and compare to the setup
Some questions you may want to ask or think about when evaluating the treatment setup:
- Does it reflect the patient's main concerns and expectations regarding…
- Does it reflect the treatment goals regarding….

- Are you happy with the end result?
- Do you think that the amount of movement is predictable with the number of aligners?
- Are you happy with timing and amount of IPR?
- Are you happy with the engagers, amount and position?
- Is the staging/sequencing of different movements acceptable? I.e. first rotation then intrusion.
- Are you staying within the clinical boundaries?
Approving or disapproving the treatment setup
When you are done reviewing your setup, close the treatment setup browser window and return to the case page. Then choose one of the following options.
- Approve the setup and start the case – click “APPROVE”

- Disapprove the setup – click “DISAPPROVE” to:
- Ask for changes: If the model looks inaccurate or you want to move the teeth differently, let us know what you want to do. Our technicians will do their best to make any changes you request and upload a new version for your approval within a few days.

- Submit new impressions or scans: You may want to submit new impressions or scans if any significant amount of time has passed. Providing us with the most current scans or impressions that you are able, will help ensure a more accurate treatment setup.

- Cancel the case: If the patient decides to not go through with treatment or you decide to no longer move forward with the case.

When disapproving a treatment setup, providing your technician with detailed information will give them a clear picture of the problem and what you want changed, resulting in a quick turnaround on your setup.
When making changes, remember to:
- Be precise and clear
- Give reference points. I.e. what angle you are viewing the setup from
- List in bullet points what you don't like or want changed in the setup

After you have reviewed and are satisfied with the treatment setup, click “APPROVE”. You will then be prompted with your payment options, to add any coupons and choose your shipping method. If you are satisfied with everything click “Submit” and ClearCorrect will begin production on the aligners.

Notes from the Technician
You may receive notes from your technician regarding your treatment setup. Some of the common notes you might receive from the technician are:
- About the case type
- About your prescription
- About the quality of your impressions
- Questions about records/materials
Some notes will require answering before the technician can provide your treatment setup and sometimes the notes or comments do not require a response. The technician will usually be very clear with instruction or if anything is needed for your case to proceed. If you ever need assistance you can reach out to one of our knowledgeable Provider Services representatives for help.

If the note from your technician is about your impressions and you would like to review your original impressions or scans, they are available for view in the "DOCUMENTS" section on the case page. This is also where you can access your invoice, photos and the treatment prescription for the case.

IPR, engagers and the treatment setup
ClearCorrect's role is to help you create the treatment setup you want for your patient. We can offer recommendations for the course of treatment for your patient, but those recommendations are never absolute. It's up to you to make any necessary changes to customize an ideal treatment plan for each individual patient.
We can adjust all preferences related to IPR (which teeth, when and how, no IPR, expansion, limited IPR, limited expansion, etc.) or engagers based on your specifications.
Just let us know what you want when you submit your case or when you're reviewing your treatment setup.
