The menu's purpose is to showcase the name of the tools for easy identification, it helps users familiarize themselves with the icons and can be turned off at any point.
By default, the system will show the icon-related labels. If you wish to not have these, you can go to the configuration menu on the top right corner of your screen and disable the expandable mode.
Yes. If you have customized your left menu toolbar, ClearPilot will save this setting for use when reviewing all cases.
Questions about ClearPilot™ Tools
No. This is not a possibility at this time. The values are set as follows:
- Green: Contacts between -0.1 and 0.1 mm
- Yellow: 0.1 – 0.2 mm
- Red: >0.2 mm
No. The Multiview feature is set to show only the upper and lower arches in the left panel. You can change the model in the main window to any of the 5 available views.
The Superimpose tool compares the starting position (S) of the teeth, to any selected step, through to the retainer step (R). On the 3D image the starting position of the teeth is represented by purple shading. The selected step or (R) step is represented by the white tooth color. Teeth with both purple and white are teeth that have not been moved.
If you use the Superimpose tool on the DR Step, it will compare the starting position of the teeth to the final position with any changes that were made with the Dr Edits tool to the current setup version. On the 3D image the purple color represents the starting position of the teeth, the teal color represents the teeth that were moved using the Dr. Edits tool, and the white color represents the final position of the teeth defined in the current setup version.
On a desktop/laptop PC, use the scroll wheel on your mouse or use the plus (+) and minus (–) keys on your keyboard to adjust the size of the image.
On a desktop/laptop Mac, use the scroll wheel on your mouse or use the Command-and-Control keys and the plus (+) and minus (–) keys simultaneously on your keyboard to adjust the size of the image.
On tablets and mobile devices use your fingers to pinch and zoom.
The ratios and values in the Bolton Analysis table are calculated from the data received at case submission.
Yes. Select the Measure icon in the Left Menu to activate point-to-point measurement. Then select the plus symbol and select a first location then drag your mouse and click on the second location. To add more rulers, repeat the same steps. All the measurement rulers will be saved.
No, to communicate with technicians please use the Comments tab. Private Notes will not be reviewed by the treatment planning team, shared with any third party (e.g. Collaborators and TPS), or used by ClearCorrect for any purpose other than the provision of technical support.
No, Auto-Save only saves edits done while using 3D Controls. To save Doctor Private Notes, the Doctor needs to click the Save button.
By default, there are 3 options:
- Initial vs. Final
- Initial vs. Dr. Edits
- Technician Final vs. Dr. Edits.
There is a custom option that allows comparing between two versions of a plan and between steps. The default option when clicking on Side-by-Side is Initial vs Final.
3D models move independently. Using the view shortcuts can help to move the models more accurately.
Yes, you can certainly use other available features within ClearPilot when you’re in the side-by-side comparison view, except for the Occlusal Heat Map.

No, you can also request changes through the Comments Tab in ClearPilot.
All changes made using the Dr. Edits tool are shown in the DR step next to the timeline.
Dr. Edits are opened via the Pencil icon located in the left menu. After clicking on the pencil, the Clinical Features submenu will open. To switch to tooth movement editing, select the arrow/rotation icon
and double click to select the tooth. This will open the tooth movement menu.
Yes, you can place engagers and cutouts buccally or lingually using the 3D Controls features. The only exception is button cutouts cannot be placed lingually on the anterior teeth.
Yes, with ClearPilot Version 9.0 an enhanced workflow was introduced for duplicating engagers.
To do this you will select the engager you want to duplicate, click on the Duplicate option in the Engager menu, and then select (with a single click) the teeth where you want the engager to be duplicated (one at a time).
Press ESC or click on Cancel to exit the Engager Duplication Mode.
No, ClearCorrect’s double vertical slit design has been optimized for our Performance Trimline.
Yes, you can move teeth directly in the tooth movement chart by using keyboard shortcuts or directly selecting a cell in the movement chart and typing the desired movement value.
IPR values on any treatment step represent the recommended IPR to perform in each step. IPR values on R step, and overcorrection steps, show cumulative or total IPR recommended over the entire case. The values do not indicate IPR to be performed on those steps.
While in the Dr. Edits mode, changes can be made to adjust the interproximal contacts, by clicking on the indicator flags between teeth. The flags are color coded to show spacing (green), collision (red), or null contact (white, 0mm). Click the +/- icon, beside the current measurement to modify the contact. + Increases contact/IPR and -decreases contact/IPR.
At this time, there are no limits to tooth movements programed in ClearPilot. Use the tooth movement predictability values to determine how best to program the movement desired.
First select the primary tooth for editing. To select a contiguous group of teeth, hold down the shift key and select the last tooth in the group. All teeth between the first and last will be selected.
First select the primary tooth for editing. Hold down the Ctrl key for PC or Command for Mac and select any other tooth and it will be added to the group. This can be done multiple times to add as many teeth to the group as desired. Only teeth in the same arch can be selected.
Yes. You can adjust the default rotation during 3D edits for better control over crown and root adjustments and hinge rotations. After selecting a tooth, black dots will appear on each side, allowing you to change the rotation from the tooth's center to the tip of the crown or mesial/distal sides for more targeted movements.
Yes. After selecting a group of teeth, the compass editing tool can be moved to a different tooth in the group. Hold down the shift key and select a different tooth in the group of selected teeth. The compass editing tool and group anchor will move to the newly selected tooth.
Yes. Technicians will be notified if you have locked a tooth's location and will not move any teeth that are locked.
Questions about Mobile View
No. The Mobile View can be accessed from any browser on any mobile device.
You can click on the FULL VIEW button while in Mobile View to open the full desktop version of ClearPilot. If you are planning to use the 3D Controls features, we recommend using a desktop for a better user experience.
The full view button will not always show in devices with smaller screens (like phones).
Questions about the Case or Treatment Setup
Reviewing, approving and commenting on treatment setups should be done in ClearPilot. Any comments made in the Doctor Portal will not be available for the technician to view.
If you add edits and comments to your Treatment Setup, you need to disapprove the Treatment Setup in ClearPilot not the Doctor Portal, otherwise the technician will not receive your edits and comments.
In a revision setup, all steps prior to the revision will not be visible.
Yes, the technician will be able to modify your setup to a previous version. You will have to decline the current version, requesting to go back to a different setup version. Once you receive the desired version, you can go ahead and approve it.
New impressions or cancel case commands are the first selection in the configuration menu (☰).
The overcorrection steps are underlined on the timeline.
When you use the Dr. Edits features, the overcorrection steps will no longer appear on your treatment timeline. If overcorrection has been requested, it will appear on the revised treatment plan.
Yes, however the options are limited to Initial vs. Final and Custom.
The setup rating is used to evaluate the quality of the Treatment Setup. The feedback helps identify areas of opportunity in protocol development, technician training, and recognition, amongst other uses.
Questions about the Shareable Patient Link
No. The patient link will only give access to the 3D image, Treatment timeline, Multiview and Engagers/IPR/Pontics.
The Treatment Setup link can be accessed from ClearPilot or the Doctor Portal.
From ClearPilot (desktop version):
A link to a shareable version of the setup is accessible through the ClearPilot configuration menu option.

- Click on the Share icon

- Choose your preferred sharing method: either copy the shareable link or send via email.
From ClearPilot (mobile version):
A link to a shareable version of the setup is accessible in the ClearPilot mobile version.

From the Doctor Portal:
A link to a shareable version of the setup is available on the patient’s Case Details page in the Doctor Portal.
- Select the ACTION NEEDED tab.
- Locate and select Show patient link.
- Copy the URL by using the provided button and include the password if it has been provided.
- Share with your patient.
If the password is not present, you can still share the link with the patient. In this case the link will work without a password.
The patient needs to click the link you provided (or copy and paste the link into a browser). They may be required to enter the password if one was provided.
