Update Your System to the 3Shape UNITE Platform
1. 3Shape UNITE is an upgrade to 3Shape's existing Dental Desktop system. There are 3 ways to update your Dental Desktop system:
- follow the pop-up prompt that appears after you log in
- follow the pop-up prompt that appears after your next startup
- work through the steps shown below via the "Settings" menu
Pop-up Prompt
2. To update your system via the "Settings" menu, click on the "More" button found in the main panel of your Dental Desktop system. Then select the gear icon.
3. An expandable menu will appear. Click on the heading "Installed Apps & Subscriptions," then click on the option "Installed Apps."
4. You will be able to click on the bottom left "App Updates".
5. Select "Check for updates" button.
6. Identify "3Shape UNITE" for your upgrade and then click the "Upgrade" button. This will cause your system to begin to download the upgrade. To begin installation of the upgrade, click "OK" in the pop-up window that will appear.
7. After installation is complete, close out and restart Dental Desktop.
Install the ClearCorrect App for 3Shape UNITE
1. When you open 3Shape UNITE, you will be prompted to review a "General Terms & Conditions" agreement. Read it before accepting it.
2. A welcome screen will appear. Click on your user icon.
3. Click on the "More" icon in Dental Desktop in 3Shape, then "Store" icon.
4. You will be taken to the 3Shape UNITE store; on the side menu there is a label for "Straumann Group," click on it. Under the Straumann Group apps click "Install" for the app called "Straumann Group ClearCorrect App."
6. A pop-up window will appear. Click "Install" to complete the installation of the ClearCorrect App for 3Shape UNITE.
Create and Submit a New Case within 3Shape UNITE
1. Open 3Shape UNITE and click on the "Patient" header on the main menu. Under the all patients menu, click on "New Patient."
2. A pop-up window will appear; enter the patient's information and click "Save patient."
3. The new patient's library page will appear; it will be empty. Click the "New case" button on the side menu.
4. A pop-up window will appear and it will have all the different apps you have installed on your 3Shape UNITE system. Click on the ClearCorrect App icon for, then click on the ClearCorrect Aligner or ClearCorrect Retainer App icon.
5. You will be taken to the scanning page. You may use your scanner to capture digital impressions following the workflow steps shown at the top of the page. If you already have digital impressions saved, exit the workflow to import files into the patient library.
6. To exit the workflow, click the "Home" icon in the top left corner of the screen.
7. You will be taken back to the patient's library. Go to the side menu and click the ellipses icon on the ClearCorrect button, this will open a drop down menu. Then click "Import scans."
8. A pop-up window will appear. Select "Upper jaw" and then select the upper jaw STL file, then complete the selection by clicking the "Open" button.
9. Repeat the above process for the "Lower jaw" and then click "OK."
10. You can then resume the ClearCorrect workflow by selecting the case and clicking "Open" in the top right corner of the window.
11. You will need to sign in using your Straumann e-shop/Doctor Portal credentials. This will only be required one time (afterwards your credentials will be saved for future use). Once you have entered your login information click "Login."
12. Complete and submit the case submission workflow as you normally would.
13. You will be taken back to the "Case details" page. The case status should state "Waiting for records." Confirm that the STL files are present by clicking the "Documents" header.
14. Click the "Home" icon located in the top left corner of the screen, this will take you back to the patient library.
15. Once there, click the "Import" button in the top right corner to import the patient's photos to their case details. A pop-up window will appear, select the photos of the patient you want to import and click "Open."
16. You will finalize which pictures you want to import to the patient's case details by selecting the photos you want to import and then clicking the "Import" button.
17. The imported photos will now appear in the patient's library. Confirm that both "Digital impressions" and "Photos" are selected at the top of the page and then click the "ClearCorrect" button on the side menu.
18. Return to the "Case details" page by clicking the "Open" button located in the top right corner of the screen.
19. The "Case details" page will open to the "Action Needed" tab. Click the "browse files" link in the "Upload photos" section of the page.
20. Select all the photos you want to submit for the case and then click the "Select" button.
21. Finalize your photo selection by clicking the "Save" button.
22. Confirm all the necessary documents are present by looking under the "History" or "Documents" header on the patient's "Case details" page.
23. You can also confirm the case submission is complete by clicking on the "Home" button and then "Cases" button located at the top of the side menu. It will take you to your cases page that lists the status for each of your cases. This will complete your submission of documents for the new patient's case.
Create and Submit a New Case from an Existing Patient Scan
1. Open 3Shape UNITE and click on the "Patient" header on the main menu. Under the all patients menu, select the existing patient you want to submit a new case for.
2. This will take you to the patient's library page. Select the scan you want to submit with the case and then click on the ClearCorrect App at the bottom of the screen.
3. You will be taken to the "Create an order" page. Complete and submit the first page of the case submission workflow as you normally would.
4. When you reach the "Images" page of the case order, click on the "Browse files" link under the photos section of the page.
5. Select all the photos you want to submit for the case and then click the "Select" button.
6. The photos will then appear in the "Upload Photos" section of the page.
7. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and confirm the STL files for the scans are present, then click "Next."
8. Complete the remaining sections of the case order and then click "Submit."
9. You will be taken back to the case details page. There should be no actions needed and the case status should be "Treatment setup in production."
Submitting a Revision or Retainer Case with 3Shape UNITE
To submit a case with 3Shape Unite Dental Desktop, perform the following steps:
1. Click on the "Cases" icon in the toolbar.
2. Select the existing case that you are wanting to request a revision or order a retainer and click on the "View" button.
3. Within "Case details" you may select to "REVISE" case or "ORDER RETAINER".
4. Complete steps for requesting a revision and upload new scans for the patient's case.

5. Review the Terms and Conditions then click "Submit" to complete order.
